Join Beth McCoun every Tuesday at 4:45 PM for chair yoga and discover a gentle yet effective form of exercise that can benefit seniors both physically and mentally. Chair yoga makes yoga accessible to adults with mobility limitations, providing a comfortable alternative to traditional yoga practice. With chair yoga, you can experience the benefits of yoga while seated, eliminating the need for up-and-down movements typically associated with yoga practice.
We’d love for you to join us for a super fun and cozy 20-minute Storytime adventure! Our sessions are perfect for kids ages 3 to 5 and will include two delightful stories, some interactive songs, fun movement activities, and a cute craft to take home! To keep things comfy and cozy, we limit each Storytime to just 16 children. We encourage parents to let their little ones attend on their own, as this helps build important school readiness skills and encourages independence. Mrs. Megan and Mrs. Elaine can’t wait to share stories and songs with your kids while helping them develop a lifelong love for reading. We’re so excited to see you there!
Session times:
10:00 am | 10:30 am | 11:00 am | 11:30 am

Cardio Drumming is an invigorating, inclusive workout that people of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy. It’s a dynamic blend of drumming and cardio set to music, boosting heart rate, enhancing rhythm, building upper body strength, refining motor skills, and hand-eye coordination—all while torching calories. What's truly incredible is that you don't need drumming experience or even actual drums! Instead, we'll use stability balls, buckets, and drumsticks. Tristen Stansfield will be leading us in an energetic session of Cardio Drumming.
Buckets and drumsticks will be provided, but attendees must bring their own stability ball.

To ensure a successful experience, participants should come equipped with cutting, gluing, and taping skills, as these are essential for our fun-filled lab sessions.

Delve into the vibrant tapestry of Black history in Shelby County by joining us for an inspiring presentation that celebrates the remarkable legacy of the community. Don’t miss this opportunity to uncover stories that enrich our understanding and appreciation of the past! In 1904, the Day Law made Berea College inaccessible to Black students, closing a significant opportunity. However, on October 1, 1912, the Lincoln Institute of Kentucky opened, welcoming 85 students and quickly growing. It became a beacon of hope for African Americans, hosting students from as far as Honduras and Cuba. Established in 1910, the Lincoln Foundation managed the institute's assets, with Dr. A. Eugene Thomson as its first president, emphasizing leadership, vocational education, and cultural celebration. Under President Whitney M. Young, Sr., the Lincoln Institute thrived as a premier educational institution for Black students. Young, the first Black president, significantly impacted education, shaping the lives of many over his four-decade tenure.
Join us and the Historical Society in honoring this extraordinary legacy that continues to inspire generations.
