Mel Hankla, noted historian, educator, and authority on the Kentucky Longrifle, will bring his deep knowledge and passion for early American frontier history to the Shelby County Public Library in a special presentation you won’t want to miss.

As Owner and CEO of American Historic Services, Hankla has spent decades preserving and interpreting 18th- and 19th-century Americana. He is also a respected author, skilled craftsman, and engaging historical interpreter, known for bringing figures like Simon Kenton and George Rogers Clark to life.

Join us as Hankla shares fascinating stories and insights into Kentucky’s rich frontier heritage — with a special focus on the iconic Kentucky Longrifle and its cultural legacy.

The Shelby County Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 4th, and will reopen on Saturday, July 5th.
